Experience and approach

Specific experience and training:

I have been working in a non-pathologising approach with gender and sexual minority clients for over 8 years, in private practice and (post qualifying) as a volunteer counsellor for the Metro Centre (an LGBT health and advice centre based in Greenwich). I also set up and ran a secondary school counselling service for Youthreach in 2006.

I have extensive experience of offering therapy to gender and sexual diversity clients, including queer, lesbian, gay men, bisexual men and women, polyamorous, kink/BDSM identified clients and those questioning or experiencing distress around their gender, sexual identity or sexual practices.

My article, A Kink in the Process was published in July 2010 by Therapy Today. The article addresses the need for therapists to become informed in order to work safely with kink/BDSM clients.

I deliver training for Pink Therapy and other training organizations for therapists on Understanding Kink and BDSM.

I completed the Essentials in Sexual Minority Therapy programme in 2008 and the first 1 year Certificate in Sexual Minority Therapy in 2010 - both with Pink Therapy and I continue to pursue training and professional development around counselling, supervision and issues of gender and sexuality.  I am an Advanced Accredited Sexual Diversity Therapist.
