About me

I am a psychologist/psychotherapist who practises in Central London, with practice rooms in South Molton Street, and an online practice (The Rainbow Couch). I am a qualified psychologist (BA and MA in Psychology) with further training in two variants of Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (EDT): Intensive Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (IE-DP) and Affect Phobia Therapy (APT). I am a Certified APT-Therapist and a Certified APT-Therapist. I am a member of the BACP and of IEDTA and EDT-UK.

I have extensive experience in working with adult survivors of dysfunctional families and childhood trauma. I specialise in helping those whose lives are significantly disrupted by their problems - also those with past experience of previous unsuccessful treatment. I have several years’ experience of working with the international community in the Netherlands. In addition to English (my mother tongue), I speak Hebrew and Dutch.

My online practice, The Rainbow Couch, provides expert, tolerant and affirmative therapy for members of the Gender and Sexual Diversity community wherever they are in the world. It also makes therapy easily accessible for those with mobility problems, or those for whom, for whatever reason, the threshold of face-to-face therapy is too high.

I write regular advice columns in magazines and online, have been quoted as an expert in various media, and have written a chapter for a book on psychotherapy on the use of EDT to treat an underachieving gifted adolescent (see my website for more details).

Experience and approach

Specific experience and training:

I have been trained in two variants of Experiential Dynamic Therapy (EDT). EDT is a short-term therapy that addresses the underlying causes of the presenting problem and leads to noticeable improvement in the client’s condition after a relatively small number of sessions. The effects have also been shown to be long term. EDT is suitable for treating most problems. I am a Certified APT-Therapist and a Certified APT-Trainer.

English Core Training in Experiential Dynamic Therapy (IE-DP)

I have successfully completed a 3-year theoretical and clinical course in IE-DP.  Principal teacher/supervisor: Ferruccio Osimo MD, Psychiatrist (former President of the International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association and teacher at Milan University, Italy). Additional training: David Malan, FRCPsych (former Consultant Psychiatrist, Tavistock Clinic, London, author and developer of Short-Term Psychotherapeutic methods).

Training in Affect Phobia Therapy (APT)

I have had 5 years of training and supervision sessions with Kristin A. R. Osborn, Director of the Harvard Medical School Psychotherapy Research Program and President of IEDTA. In addition, I have completed the English Core Training in Affect Phobia Therapy. I am now a Certified APT-Therapist and a Certified APT-Trainer.
