Jay Treryth - Online Counsellor
About the Therapist
I'm a guy in my 40s, I live with my husband and our cat down in the middle of Cornwall.
I love Cornwall, for the walking, the weather and the quiet.
My time is split between my private practice and my work training other counsellors.
My life experience has been shaped by growing up Pan and an Enby, even before I knew those words. It's left me passionate about unfairness and empowerment. I believe everyone deserves to have the life they choose, free from anyone or anything telling them otherwise.
My own story helps me understand yours, I get that for some people their identity is a big deal. And sometimes what matters is to have someone who gets why when you're dealing with life. Either way, I can promise you I'll be there alongside you to work things out.
We'll work the way you want, rather than trying to fit you into the way I work. I have good experience in helping people make sense of difficult childhoods, to work with the things that sometimes linger from the past and with moving through and past them.
I work with Adults generally in a one-to-one setting. If you need counselling for someone under 18 I can signpost you to colleagues who are proficient in that kind of support.

I've been a counsellor for ten years and I love it. I promise to accept you as you are, for all your personality, hopes, fears and problems.
Once I qualified as a counsellor, I continued my training with further qualifications that help me work with the more difficult areas, especially the stuff that happens when we're young and what it takes to make a change in life.
I am so passionate about each person getting to live their own life, and to be their own person. As a counsellor it's my role and my joy to support you in you deciding what that means.
My approach includes talking therapy, creative work, mindfulness, somatic work and spirituality, all there for you to use as needed.
My professional life has been focused on working with people who feel pushed to the edges, including the queer community, people with neurodiversity and anyone who has felt like the world just doesn't get them.
