Marios Andreou
About the Therapist
Throughout my career I have worked with the LGBTQ+ community helping people facing a range of issues around sexual orientation, identity, relationships.
Being different can present real challenges around accepting who we are, and limit our ability to feel free and comfortable around others, impacting emotional and psychological wellbeing.
LGBT+ people can face unique challenges and stresses in embracing their identity when faced with societal prejudice, which can manifest within families, friendships, workplaces and other environments.
People who are LGBT+ will be regarded differently within different cultures, and it is important to understand and recognise the pressures connected to someone’s cultural background, which may present additional and unique pressures in someone’s life.
OTHER SPECIALISMS
Sexual abuse/violation
I have worked extensively with men who’ve experienced sexual abuse/violation, helping them work through the trauma and impact of such experiences.
Disability
I have long-standing experience working with people diagnosed with life-changing health conditions, in particular sight loss, and help them come to terms with the huge life changes that someone faces under such circumstances.

In our sessions I will help you to identify and understand the impact of your experiences, to make sense of your feelings which influence you in your day-to-day life. Our work together will help you gain a greater perspective, and open up new choices and possibilities for you.
Sessions are conversational and my aim is to help you to discover your own solutions and way forward by asking you questions and sharing my thoughts and observations. At times I may offer ideas on practical steps you can take which may help with what you're dealing with.
My theoretical approach is Existential.
