Hannah Creedon
About the Therapist
I currently have availability on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Welcome! I'm Hannah (she/her), and I'm an Irish Queer Person-Centred Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Supervisor. I live in West Sussex and I teach Person-Centred Counselling at East Sussex College.I offer online sessions for individuals aged 18+ and I have specialised in working with the LGBTQ+ Community for many years.
My work is trauma-informed, which means that I will always prioritise your emotional safety by shifting the focus from "what is wrong with you" to "what happened to you"? I can offer a space where your identity does not have to be justified or explained.
What does it mean to be person-centred?
Well, essentially it means that you guide the work! Person-centred counselling means you are in the 'driver' seat and I will walk the journey with you ,by encouraging self-acceptance. The person-centred approach is non-judgemental and trusts that each individual has an innate ability to find fulfilment given the right conditions. However, this ability can become blocked or distorted by certain life experiences,
We may look at different aspects of your life that you can use to work through your own issues and build your self-confidence. I believe you are the expert on yourself, as no-one else knows exactly what it’s like to be you!Â
I centre intersectionality in my counselling and supervision work. This means examining the many oppressive systems or cultures that impact your life. I like to focus on helping clients work towards having healthier and happier relationships, both with themselves and others.
I am committed to anti-oppressive and anti-racist work and I acknowledge that the onus is on me to educate myself about client's culture and identity.
