About the Therapist
I work in an integrative way which means that I can offer a range of styles and techniques. Some clients I see enjoy finding out about how our psyche works and applying that to their experiences, others just prefer to talk. Some of my clients find it difficult to talk about feelings and their experiences, and then we can use creative and imaginative techniques. Whether you are struggling with anxiety or depression, have difficulties with relationships or family issues, I have experience supporting my clients through short-term, goal-oriented work; and through long term work reaching more in-depth, and looking at ourselves as a whole. I have an understanding of a variety of challenges people can face, but my approach is always to look for your unique experience of the difficulties you are facing. When we meet for an initial session, I will ask you questions about various areas of your life, and about why you are coming to see me. We will discuss how our sessions are going to work and how we can move towards what you want. We will regularly review our work together and discuss our progress. Counselling and Psychotherapy can be a different experience for every one of us. For some it is about a safe and non-judgemental space, where it's OK to speak about difficult topics and express yourself freely. Others appreciate directness, openness of communications and a challenge to their set ways of being. Often we look at what is happening in the here and now, and use our experience together to look at how you relate with others outside the therapy room.
