Heather Robertson
About the Therapist
Life can be overwhelming. Perhaps things are feeling too much right now, but you are telling yourself that you *should* be able to handle it. Maybe you are unsure how you feel, but know you’re not feeling fully yourself; or perhaps you don't know what "you" feels like any more. Maybe you have lost touch with what you want, focusing instead on what people around you want. Sometimes this can leave us feeling lost or stuck, lonely and exhausted, and unsure where to turn.
I'm Heather (she/her), a BACP-accredited counsellor and an advanced accredited Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversities Therapist. I support people to reconnect with themselves, and get in touch with who they are and what they really want, allowing them to live life in a more fulfilling way. Together we can uncover and explore what is causing you difficulty, and find a way through.
I work with adults on an individual basis, both in-person and online. My practice is inclusive of all sexualities and genders, and I will never attempt to change, suppress, or eliminate your gender identity or sexuality. I will welcome your identities and will provide a space for you to explore all of who you are.
Some people come to me questioning who they are. Others want to explore coming out, or navigating life as an LGBTQ+ person. Other times, sexuality or gender identity isn't what someone wants to talk about, but they want to be able to talk about all aspects of their life to someone who gets it.
These are some of the things people bring to my practice. It is by no means an exhaustive list, and nothing is too small to bring to counselling if it is causing you difficulty or distress.

If we choose to work together following the introductory telephone call, we will then arrange an initial counselling session, and provided we are then both happy to do so, an ongoing time to meet weekly. Counselling sessions are 50-minutes long.
