Dr Patrick Diemling
About the Therapist
As a systemic counsellor and passionate psychodrama practitioner trained in Berlin and specialised in GSRD, I currently reside in Norway with my husband and our sweet rescue dog. I offer online sessions to clients worldwide, with a majority identifying with the queer/LGBTQIA* and HSP community. Occasionally, I can provide in-person sessions in Berlin (or Oslo). I bring a diverse professional background to my sessions. That helps me to connect with the various professional realities of my clients: Besides having worked as a counsellor for 10 years, I also worked as a kindergarten teacher, teacher for Ethics and Life Skills, research assistant in Religious Studies (PhD), and as an actor in German film and television for 25 years.

Whatever brings you to therapy, my aim is that you will feel better after a few sessions already. My clients say that in our sessions, they experience a warm-hearted and friendly atmosphere. You'll engage with a genuine, authentic human being rather than with an unapproachable therapist. Consider our interaction as a shared walk, with you deciding direction and pace. I'm happy to walk by your side, maybe suggesting new paths or highlighting potentially unexplored areas. In this regard, "queerness" can also be considered as a mindset that helps us to think "outside the box." My approach is solution-oriented; although we can of course explore your background ("Where you come from"), you might be more inclined to envision "where you want to go." Laughter may be part of our shared moments, and with your consent, I might pose thought-provoking questions. In my sessions, my clients experience more than traditional "talk-only" therapy. By integrating drama-based techniques I encourage them to also explore non-cognitive layers, delving into the complexity of their inner life and becoming more aware of their "inner cast". Creating a secure space is a priority, especially for my queer clients, who may resonate with my personal mental health journey as a gay man navigating a shame biography myself. My hope is that you feel even more understood, supported and connected on a deeper level.
