Beth Morley
About the Therapist
Hi I'm Beth, I am a BABCP accredited CBT therapist with experience working with a range of anxiety disorders and depression. I have specialist experience in working with OCD and related disorders, including BDD.Â
I use Acceptance and Commitment therapy, along with mindfulness and compassion to support my CBT practice. OCD treatment naturally involves exposure and response prevention (ERP).Â
I offer time limited therapy, with the focus being to give you the tools to become your own therapist, so that you can be there for yourself in the long run.Â

I have worked in mental health using CBT since 2016, working with adults from different backgrounds and with a range of difficulties. Over this time I have worked in different capacities, both as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and as a supervisor in outpatient NHS talking therapy services. I have also worked on a specialist OCD and BDD inpatient ward, providing specialist exposure and response prevention and CBT to individuals with severe OCD and BDD.Â
During my time as a therapist I have taken a special interest in LGBTQ+ mental health and advocate taking an affirmative approach with this group in my therapy. I have delivered training to staff and contributed to the development of LGBTQ+ friendly services within the NHS.
CBT is an evidence-based therapy for anxiety and mood disorders. This approach helps you to identify patterns of thoughts and behaviour which may be keeping you stuck and contributing to your difficulties.
CBT is generally a time-limited therapy (12-20 sessions) which aims to teach you strategies to manage difficult thoughts and feelings. This is an active therapy and you will be asked to complete between session tasks to aid you in your progress. Much like physiotherapy, if you only attend the weekly session and do not practice between times you will get less benefit from the therapy.Â
For OCD, I incorporate Exposure and response prevention (ERP) . This is a type of CBT where you would be asked to face your fears, allow intrusive thoughts to enter your mind, and let go of your usual strategies to cope (such as compulsions and rituals). This would be discussed with you and taken at your own pace.Â
Throughout my work I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This is predominantly a behavioural therapy which helps you to change your relationship with your thoughts and feelings. In my work, I will help you to identify the most important values in your life and support you in developing the skills to navigate difficulty to work towards the life you want for yourself. There is no one size fits all for therapy, so I will help you to discover what works best for you. I also make use of mindfulness in my CBT to support you in developing all the skills you need to become your own therapist.Â
