Els Hall MBACP - Trauma-informed therapy with NB Queer Counsellor
About the Therapist
In my practise I endeavor to create a safe space where I enter into your unique sphere of existence. I will frequently use metaphor as a vehicle to explore your innermost feelings and lay them out between us, enabling us both to make sense of them. I use a holistic approach to explore you as your entire being, the bigger picture of you, rather than a clinical deconstruction that reduces you to diagnosis or acronyms. I work with all clients from all walks of life, backgrounds, professions, and presenting issues, and I have years of experience in working with trauma and sexual violence. I recognise the complexity of trauma and the impact it can have on someone’s life, that it is often multi-faceted, a complicated tapestry with no simple beginning or end. This journey may take us through your relationships (past and present), as well as deconstructing harmful myths and narratives that may have disempowered you.
It is very important to me that my therapy is based within an understanding of intersectionality and how systemic prejudice affects individuals in a complex way, often compounding the trauma you might face. Therapy can be many different things to many different people. There is no one size fits all, and no journey is the same for everyone. For some, it might be a transformative experience, learning about oneself and navigating hidden, uncomfortable corners and confronting those shadows. For others, it may be one of remembrance, a space to hold grief, to embrace our past selves, and release that pain. Along the journey there can be moments of sorrow, but also some of shared joy and laughter.

Our sessions will be client-led, guided by you, and we will work at your pace. I incorporate a number of different approaches into my work in order to tailor it personally to you and what you feel you need. I have two years of experience delivering empowerment based support and therapy to survivors of trauma. I welcome clients with neurodiverse traits to please contact me to discuss how best we can navigate therapy together. Just because you may be non-verbal or communicate in an “unconventional” manner does not mean your emotional experiences are less valid or less worthy of being authentically explored.

Sessions are £50 for 50 minutes. I offer free fifteen minute consultations over the phone so we can explore what you are looking for from therapy, and if you feel I am the right person to join you on that journey. I can accommodate different frequencies and price points according to your needs, and offer some concessionary rates for students and marginalised groups. I handle payment via bank transfer. Payment must come through before the session. If you had never had therapy before, it can feel strange to speak to a stranger about your feelings, but I can reassure you that with time you will look in wonder at your courage and honesty, even if it takes a little while to get there. If you would like to discuss further what therapy might do for you, or if I am the right person to facilitate what you need, then please reach out to contact me. I also offer discounted intro sessions where we can explore this further if necessary.
