Mark Ryan - Accredited Relationship Therapist
About the Therapist
My name is Mark Ryan, and I’m an Integrative Psychotherapist and Accredited Relationship Therapist working exclusively in person in London. I offer relationship therapy for couples and people in diverse relationship structures, including non-monogamous, polyamorous, and queer partnerships.
My approach is collaborative and reflective. I aim to create a space where partners can slow down, communicate more openly, and begin to understand the deeper dynamics at play between them. I pay attention to the story and roles within each relationship — how early experiences, values, and emotional histories shape the patterns that partners find themselves repeating.
I integrate Imago Relationship Therapy, Gottman Method, Systemic, Attachment-Based, and Psychodynamic approaches. This means we balance emotional insight with practical tools, helping clients to both understand and actively reshape how they relate to one another.
Clients often describe me as calm, grounded, and gently challenging. I see my role not as a referee or fixer, but as a facilitator of conversation and awareness — someone who helps both partners feel heard and understood, even when things feel difficult or uncertain.
I work from therapy rooms across London, providing a confidential, inclusive environment for exploration, repair, and growth.

My clinical experience spans both individual and relational therapy, with a focus on couples and people in diverse relationship structures. I’ve supported clients facing a wide range of issues, including communication breakdown, ongoing conflict, emotional distance, infidelity, loss of intimacy, sexual and desire differences, and the impact of stress, trauma, or neurodivergence on relationships.
I have extensive experience working with clients exploring ethical non-monogamy (ENM), polyamory, and queer relationships, helping partners to navigate openness, boundaries, and emotional regulation with honesty and respect. My practice is affirming, sex-positive, and inclusive of kink-aware and non-traditional identities.
My approach is integrative and relational, drawing on Imago Relationship Therapy, the Gottman Method, Systemic, Attachment-Based, and Psychodynamic models. I view each relationship as a living narrative — shaped by past experiences, attachment patterns, and the unspoken roles partners inhabit with one another. Therapy provides space to make sense of these dynamics, uncover meaning beneath conflict, and explore new ways of connecting.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I’m both a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Accredited Relationship Therapist with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
In all my work, I aim to foster understanding rather than blame. Sessions invite curiosity, reflection, and emotional honesty — supporting partners to move toward empathy, clearer communication, and conscious decision-making about the future of their relationship.
