About the Therapist
I am a lesbian myself, and have a working understanding of issues pertaining to sexuality and gender identity, non-normative relationship forms, sex work, BDSM and kink, and how these might intersect with class and ethnicity. I have experience working with people whose sexuality and gender identity is oppressed within their religious and cultural background. Some of these experiences are lived for me, some are not. Where I do not have lived experience, I ensure my education is ongoing. My training in psychoanalysis means that I am interested in the unconscious. This means I create a space for you to speak freely, without judgment, diagnosis or a sense that I know you better than you know yourself, and I pay a special kind of attention to what you say. This might involve discussing your early life, and your dreams, but is also about exploring your personal relationships and your experience in the world currently. My approach considers every individual in their social context. I am not interested in adapting people to society; rather I work with individuals to help them gain deeper self-understanding for clarity and an ease of suffering. If you have questions which aren't answered here, check my website. I am receiving new intakes and referrals. I offer sessions online/on the phone and in person, with consulting rooms in Islington and Bermondsey. I offer an initial remote session free of charge. A session is 50 minutes, and frequency of sessions will depend on your needs. Psychoanalysis is typically 2-5 sessions a week, but I see people once-weekly.

I am a psychoanalyst-in-training at The Site of Contemporary Psychoanalysis. I am a registered member of the UKCP, and abide by its code of conduct. Psychoanalytic training is rigorous and ranges 4-7 years. It requires you are in personal psychoanalysis for the duration of your training, meaning that psychoanalysts tend to have done much more personal psychotherapeutic work than therapists on other trainings. My practice is informed by my education in classical psychoanalysis (Freud, Laplanche, Bion, Klein, Lacan), and a broad and interdisciplinary education in contemporary psychotherapy, feminism, queer theory and decolonial theory. I began my psychoanalytic education at The Philadelphia Association, an institute established by RD Laing, who was instrumental in psychiatric reform. Laing considered many people treated for psychiatric diagnoses to have been made mad by their own families and wider society. This is a principle a the centre of my own clinical practice. I graduated in Philosophy and Literature, and work as a writer. I provide therapy on a voluntary basis with organisations for marginalised people in crisis, and have done advocacy work for sex workers and migrants.

The cost of an initial, remote consultation is £20, and my rate is £40 an hour. I reserve a limited number of low-cost sessions for people experiencing financial hardship. Please contact me to negotiate this. I offer a reduction for those who want to be in 3-times weekly or more and cannot afford to do this at full-cost.
