Millwell Counselling
About the Therapist
I work with clients across the West Mercia region - Worcestershire, Shropshire and Herefordshire from my cosy therapy room in Bewdley, Worcestershire. Alternatively, we can hold our sessions online; this can work well for clients who have a quiet, private and confidential place to spend an hour, and technology such as a laptop or smartphone. Clients in relationship sessions do not have to be in the same location to participate in online therapy. In certain circumstances, I can also offer telephone counselling. I offer a free introductory 15 minute consultation, usually by telephone or online, so that we can determine whether we can work together well, and you can tell me about your circumstances and the reason you are seeking counselling. After that, we will meet regularly for sessions lasting 50 minutes; clients often tell me that this is their first experience of being listened to and really heard, and this can have a profound effect. My aim is for my clients to leave their sessions feeling safe and respected and that this will lead them to find their own emotional safety and self-respect as a result of our therapeutic work.
My specialisations:
- Relationship Problems: Addressing conflicts, misunderstandings, and emotional disconnections to build healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
- Communication: Teaching effective communication techniques to enhance understanding and empathy between partners.
- Infidelity: Guiding couples through the healing process after an affair, rebuilding trust and intimacy.
- Sex and Intimacy: Helping clients overcome sexual difficulties and improve their intimate relationships.
- LGBTQ+ Affirming: Providing a supportive space for LGBTQ+ individuals, couples and polycules to explore their identities and relationships without fear of judgment.
- Polyamory and Ethically Non-Monogamous Relationships: Offering guidance and support for clients in polyamorous, open relationships and ethically non-monogamous, helping them navigate the unique challenges and dynamics of non-monogamy.
- Kink and BDSM: Creating an accepting environment for clients involved in kink and BDSM communities, addressing their specific needs and fostering healthy, consensual practices.
- Neurodiversity: Working with neurodiverse individuals and couples to understand and address their unique relationship and communication challenges, promoting neurodiversity-affirmative practices.
I believe that every individual and every relationship is unique and deserving of respect and understanding. By fostering an atmosphere of empathy and openness and using an integrative counselling approach that blends person-centered, psychodynamic, systemic, object relations, and attachment theories, I aim to help clients discover their strengths, overcome their challenges, and build lasting, meaningful connections

You are in charge of your own therapy and we can work with a number of sessions that are feasible and realistic for your schedule and budget. I usually suggest that clients expect a minimum of six sessions.
I reserve a very few lower cost sessions every week for clients experiencing severe difficulties so please feel free to contact me if you are in need of counselling but unsure if it is financially possible and I can discuss my availability. I offer a free initial fifteen minute telephone call to help with any questions or concerns you may have before we begin.
