About the Therapist
I am a trauma informed therapist, and bloom in the personal growth of being a queer ally. A thread through my career and personal interest has focused on humanity, and how that survives, thrives or is thwarted through the dynamics of privilege and oppression. I bring my humanity to my work, and central to that is a relationship of trust. A keen awareness of the damage that language, microaggressions, and behaviours can cause means I am in touch with that precious flame of simply being a respected human being. I work with people whose gender, sexual or relationship identity is impacting:
- an ability to live a full and rewarding life
- the ability to successfuly navigate relationships and family dynamics
- their mental health and wellbeing
- being on the receiving end of unhealthy power dynamics or oppression
I make a safe space for your curiosity and questions, pain and challenges, desires and goals.

I have worked in a number of settings in Gloucestershire (Five Valleys Counselling Practice in Stroud, Cotswold Counselling in Cirencester, LCCS in Bath, and I was the Stroud counsellor for Carers Gloucestershire). I now work solely in my private practice, based in a quiet and private part of my home in the centre of Nailsworth. At the heart of my work is the Humanistic approach. I find this approach dovetails beautifully with Psychodynamic therapy, and never far from reach is the client's somatic experience, a great resource to draw on to know we are really speaking from the heart of you, in line with who you truly are. To read more about these approaches please visit this page of my website - https://www.annabradfordcounselling.co.uk/my-approach/
