Sally Counselling and Psychotherapy Supervision
About the Therapist
I am passionate about counselling and am constantly inspired by the learning that I gain from it, about myself, others and how we are in relationships. I thoroughly enjoyed my supervision training and it has taught me that transparency and congruence are important qualities for me in the supervisory relationship.
I work from a person centred perspective and my views on therapy align with this modality. I am also currently studying to become a certified emotionally focused therapist. This modality is based on person-centred and attachment theory. In pursuit of this I am working with couples and other configurations of relationship.Â
I work from a non-pathologising perspective believing that the labelling of distress, although helpful for some, can also be harmful and de-humanising. I am passionate about social justice, feminism and equality.Â
I have a background as a paramedic and in social care working for 20 years in a charity supporting people with HIV and hepatitis C. I have always been drawn to work with marginalised groups, people who experience stigma and struggle to be accepted. I have over 1500 hours of counselling experience, gained in a college setting with students and in private practice.Â
I can offer supervision in-person from Edinburgh near Haymarket and I also offer online.

I initially trained in the Person-Centred approach, as I was drawn to the relational and authentic aspects that I had experienced as transformational in my own therapy. More recently I’ve integrated Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) into my practice—an evidence-based approach that supports couples and individuals in deepening emotional bonds and navigating complex relationship dynamics. EFT is an experiential and relational approach that draws on attachment theory to help develop a sense of security.
I’m also trained in creative therapeutic approaches—including art and other expressive methods and I can integrate these into supervision if you would like.
