How is my practice different?
I work with black sheep, family scapegoats and identified patients.
* You're not broken *
* You're not too sensitive or too much *
~ You're a person struggling and deserving of care ~
If you're feeling overwhelmed and stuck — or navigating an identity shift — I offer a space where you can feel supported, valued, and seen.
Who I Work With
- You have felt pushed out of family, social groups, or society, and struggle to speak your truth with confidence.
- You feel enraged or flattened by how your reality or truth seems so threatening to those you love. (You may oscillate between these.)
- You struggle to release the self-blame that you've internalised from others after years of trying to make things better for them.
~~~ You know what you need to do, but it's hard to break a lifetime of habitual relational patterns. ~~~
Good therapy can feel like a weight lifted.
Suddenly, someone else is holding it all with you.
Setting new boundaries and taking risks feels a bit easier when you know your therapist is right at your side.
You can surprise yourself with new leaps, and begin to grieve for how hard it’s been.
I support people in loving and accepting themselves more fully, and in feeling calmer, more confident and engaged in their day-to-day lives.
I know how it feels to be an outsider looking in — and how confusing it can be to love deeply those who have hurt you.
-
I support people in cultivating the self-trust and self-compassion needed to take new — and often braver — steps.
-
We work gently with the fears that arise when speaking your truth.
-
I help people to accept the parts of themselves that have been cast off.
-
Together, we practice witnessing your own suffering with tenderness.
Feeling more loving towards yourself means you gradually have more to offer the world and the people you love, without feeling drained or resentful.
I know how it feels to find peace with new identities and life situations, alongside a new self-definition of what it means to belong.
I do also work with people who struggle with many related issues to being othered and silenced.
You are the expert of your experiences.
I enter the therapy relationship as a human first, not as an "expert". I'm here to be with you, engaging curiousity and compassion, as we work together to understand what will be helpful and meaningful for you.
I'm also committed to ongoing self-reflection about how my social locations, such as race, class, and gender, amongst many others, may interact with yours. A conversation about how power and privilege manifest in our relationship and how this affects you is always open.
Accessibility
I consider all accessibility needs with sensitivity, working from the social model of disability framework. For outdoor work, we will use locations that are wheelchair accessible while maintaining appropriate privacy.
