Gordon McIntosh
About the Therapist
I bring over 30 years of experience in mental health, education, counselling and psychotherapy. My practice is rooted in a psychodynamic and Jungian orientation, which means I pay attention to both conscious and unconscious processes, and the deeper patterns shaping a person’s life.
I’ve worked with a wide range of clients, including young people, adults, and those navigating complex personal or cultural transitions. Alongside talking therapy, I emphasise the importance of self-care, routine, and physical well-being, seeing emotional health as part of a whole life.
Clients often describe me as thoughtful, focused, and supportive, with an approach that balances depth with practical strategies for everyday challenges.

Before establishing my private practice, I worked in education and mental health, teaching in further and higher education. Over the years I have supported clients with a wide range of issues, including workplace stress, identity, sexuality, family conflict, trauma, anxiety, and depression. My work is grounded in the psychodynamic tradition, influenced by Jung, and shaped by a reflective and relational approach. I see therapy as a collaborative process where understanding and change emerge through dialogue.
