About the Therapist
I am a fully qualified counselling practitioner with a postgraduate diploma (PGDip) in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling and have worked for numerous years in mental health settings. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their code of ethics.
My counselling journey is an ongoing one, developing an understanding of counselling in a way that blends both my commitment to supporting others and my passion for mental health. I come from a background working for mental health services, including extensive work with the national charity Mind.
Helping others understand the often obtuse and difficult parts of self and sadness has become a passionate calling for me. My approach to counselling is rooted in empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others navigate their unique path towards greater mental health. I also work affirmatively with LGBTQ+ issues, taking care to work compassionately with the unique challenges faced within the LGBTQ+ experience.
I personally come from a fine art background and take great interest in understanding the creative links and overlaps between art and mental wellbeing.
I maintain an ongoing commitment to progressing my counselling practice by regularly engaging in contemporary psychoanalytic literature, ongoing supervision, lectures and courses. The growth developed within my own practice is a life long commitment and it is my hope that this growth may support you.
