Matthew Morgan-Jones
About the Therapist
I offer an affirmative and informed space where your LGBTQ+ identity is deeply respected and understood within its wider social and political context. Â Together, we can explore the intersections of your identity, navigate societal marginalisation, and support your quest for authentic self-expression to help you develop a positive, integrated sense of self. My way of working is built upon an integrative approach founded in psychodynamic principles. This provides a versatile framework that bridges the gap between understanding how your past experiences and unconscious thoughts shape your current emotions, whilst also providing practical tools to navigate the "how" of your future.

In my clinical work with SurvivorsUK and The Listening Place, I have developed a robust capacity to safely hold acute distress, suicidal ideation, and complex trauma. Supporting male and non-binary survivors of sexual abuse, alongside individuals in severe crisis, has given me a profound, frontline understanding of how deep-rooted shame, guilt, and unexpressed rage can fracture a person's identity and manifest somatically.
When working with couples(+) navigating the extreme vulnerability of relational challenges, sexual dissatisfaction or the emotional crisis of betrayal, I use this experience to help them untangle entrenched trauma responses from their current intimate dynamics, moving beyond the physical symptoms to safely address the underlying relational and psychological blocks.
My ongoing Doctorate in Psychodynamic Counselling underpins my clinical practice with rigorous academic formulation, ensuring I continuously explore the often unconscious dialogue and thought patterns, protective functions and internalised homophobia that impact recovery from trauma.Â
