Dr David Mair

My own lived experience as a gay man was what took me into therapy in the first place, and was what then inspired me to go on to train as a therapist myself.  Over the course of several decades, my understanding of how growing up in a heterosexist social environment affected me at a deep level has continued to evolve and enhanced a deep respect how others identify and understand their own experiences.  I want therapy to feel like a space where you feel understood, accepted and valued for who you are - somewhere where identity may be a foreground issue (something that you want to think and talk about in a very direct way) or more of a background issue (this is not what is bringing you to therapy now, but continues to be an important part of understanding you and your life). Together, we think and talk so that you discover new ways of being, new awareness - and, perhaps, greater freedom in the ways you live.
