Paul Shin
About the Therapist
I'm Paul Shin, a somatic trauma therapist based in Ireland. I offer in-person sessions in Wexford, as well as online work across Ireland and the UK, with adults, young people, and couples.
My practice is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming, and respectful of neurodiversity. As a gay therapist, I have a personal understanding of how culture, identity, and experiences of marginalisation can shape emotional life and relationships. I pay particular attention to themes of belonging and difference, and to the ways that social and relational pressures leave their mark on the nervous system.
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship itself, a space built on safety, genuine connection, and collaborative exploration. I aim to support a steady, unhurried process in which clients can move at their own pace, gradually feeling more grounded, resourced, and at ease.

I have several years of experience working with adults, young people, and families across clinical and community settings. My background centres on trauma-informed therapy, with a particular focus on emotional regulation, attachment patterns, and the lasting effects of overwhelming experiences.
My approach is person-centred, relational, integrative, and pluralistic, meaning I shape how I work around the individual or couple rather than following a fixed model. I draw on relational and somatic methods to support both the emotional and physiological dimensions of a person's experience.
In sessions, I prioritise collaboration, pacing, and attunement. Rather than pushing for change, I support clients in building safety, awareness, and inner capacity, creating the conditions for shifts to emerge naturally in a grounded and sustainable way.
