About the Therapist
My name is Elizabeth/Lizzie (she/they) and I am a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer short-term and open-ended, 1:1 therapy in Leyton, London.I hold a BSc in Integrative Counselling from the University of East London which was accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also a registered member of the BACP. Previously, I volunteered with WeStand (formally Mosac), a charity in south London working specifically with the impact of child sexual abuse on family members, in addition to volunteering with a low-cost counselling service in Hackney. Prior to training as a psychotherapist, I worked in several different helping professions including working with survivors of domestic violence and mentoring at-risk young people

I see every person as an individual, coming to therapy with their own unique experiences, story and history. Therefore, I work in an integrative way which allows me to draw on several different theoretical approaches (psychodynamic, existentialism and person-centred) and techniques to adapt and tailor my approach to your specific needs.
I try to offer a calm and reflective space where I aim for you to feel supported, safe, accepted and heard. My role isn’t to pass judgement or make decisions for you. Instead we will work together at your own pace to explore what brought you to therapy and work towards your end goals.
I strongly believe that the most important aspect of therapy is the client-therapist relationship. Therefore, we will work collaboratively to identify patterns in your life that may be unhelpful or causing you distress, whilst drawing links to your past to identify how it may be showing itself in the present. I will encourage you to use the space to process any difficult emotions you may be experiencing in order to facilitate you making the changes you desire to help move forward in life.
I work in a non-judgemental, affirmative and sex-positive way, with individuals of all sexual and gender identities. I have a keen interest in working with individuals who identify as kinksters or fetishists, having focussed my bachelor research on this client group's experience of therapy.
Therapy can help you develop coping strategies, deal with trauma, improve communication and relationships, increase self-awareness and identify what is important to you, in order to live an authentic life.
Whatever you choose to explore, I offer an empathic and holding space to do this in.
