Caroline Lowden
About the Therapist
I'm a queer, non-monogamous, northern working class, gender-queer woman. I have 15+ years experience supporting teens and young adult who have experienced sexual trauma, trafficking, mental health problems, and the care system. My work with refugees, people experiencing homelessness, drug & alcohol problems, migration, and poverty trauma, has shaped who I am as a therapist. I offer a safe space for all LQBTQIA+ people from a place of lived and professional experience. My practice offers a straight-forward, non-judgemental approach, grounded in anti-oppressive and de-colonial values.
I work with individuals and partners of any configuration, and specialise in supporting people who are neurodiverse, non-monogamous, gender diverse, kinky, or navigating life in stigmatised bodies.Whatever your identity, orientation, or relationship structure, you’re welcome here.

I studied with a gender, sexuality, and relationship diversity (GSRD) speciality, and this has been broadened with my experience working within NHS gender services, HIV services, and services supporting communities marginalised on the basis of sexuality. In past roles, I have also worked with refugees, survivors of trafficking, and people who have experienced the care system.
Together, this practice alongside my own life experiences, have given me a grounded, practical understanding of the particular pressures, histories, and joys that can come with being LGBTQ+, non-monogamous, neurodiverse, kink-identified, or otherwise living outside more conventional relationship or sexual norms, as well as a wider sensitivity to how exclusion and instability in early life can shape relationships and sense of self. Clients who come to me with these experiences don’t need to explain the basics before we can get to the real work.
That said, this specialism doesn’t define who I see. I work just as happily with anyone facing difficulties in their relationships, their sex life, or their sense of self, whatever your identity, orientation, or relationship structure. What matters most to me is that together we can build a space where you feel seen, and able to explore your own life, desires, and future.
