About the Therapist
I came to this work through my own therapy. I went looking for support at a point in my life when I could see old patterns starting to resurface, and I didn't want to pass them on. What changed things for me wasn't a technique or a worksheet. It was the relationship I built with my own therapist, and the trust that grew out of it. That experience shaped how I work now more than any training did.
So I'd rather be a real person in the room with you than a neutral presence you're performing for. I'll say what I'm noticing out loud, and you're free to tell me I've got it wrong. Being wrong out loud together is usually more useful than being carefully agreeable.
I work slowly, because I don't think trust can be rushed and I don't think the things that actually change people can be either. There'll be no worksheet in week one. What there will be is someone paying close attention to you, for as long as it takes to work out what's really going on.
Outside the therapy room I sit on the committee of the Scottish Transactional Analysis Association.

Transactional Analysis is the model I trained in and the one I think in. It gives us a shared language for the patterns you learned early, the roles you fall into under pressure, and the ways the same conversation keeps happening with different people. I'll teach you as much of it as is useful and none of it for its own sake.
Much of what I pay attention to isn't in the words. It's in the body, in the atmosphere in the room. It's in the gap between what someone is saying and what they're clearly feeling. Naming those things gently and at the right moment is often where the movement happens.
With couples, I'm less interested in refereeing the argument than in the pattern the two of you are caught in, which usually has roots older than the relationship. I work with queer, non-binary and ENM-aligned couples building something outside the default script, where the task isn't to fix the structure but to be honest inside it.
