Andrew Selway-Woolley
About the Therapist
I'm an integrative counsellor, psychotherapist and clinical solution-focused hypnotherapist.
Before retraining as a therapist, I spent more than twenty years working in senior HR, recruitment and business leadership. Supporting people through change, challenge and uncertainty has always been at the heart of what I do, and today I bring that experience into my therapeutic work.
As a gay man, I also understand that many LGBTQ+ people are looking for more than simply an LGBTQ+ therapist. They want someone with whom they can feel safe, understood and accepted, without their identity becoming the sole focus of therapy.
Some clients come wanting to explore sexuality, gender identity, coming out, family relationships, minority stress or questions around identity. Others want support with anxiety, perfectionism, workplace stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, grief, low self-worth or life transitions that have little or nothing to do with being LGBTQ+.
I don't make assumptions about what matters most to you. Together, we'll explore whatever feels important, at your pace, with curiosity, compassion and respect.

My Therapeutic Approach
I work integratively, drawing primarily on person-centred counselling whilst incorporating psychodynamic understanding, CBT-informed approaches and solution-focused thinking where appropriate. Rather than following a single therapeutic model, I tailor therapy to you, your experiences and what you hope to gain from our work together.
Therapy isn't about being given advice or being told what to do. It's about creating a safe and supportive space where you can make sense of your experiences, understand recurring patterns, develop greater self-awareness and move towards meaningful, lasting change.
I regularly support clients with:
- Anxiety and overthinking
- Workplace stress and burnout
- Confidence and self-esteem
- Perfectionism and imposter syndrome
- Relationship difficulties
- Family relationships and recurring patterns
- People-pleasing and boundaries
- Grief and loss
- Life transitions
- Identity and sense of self
For LGBTQ+ clients, therapy is affirming rather than assumptive. Your identity will always be respected and understood, but it doesn't have to define our conversations unless you want it to.
