Benoit Existential Psychotherapist. English and French. Codependency, shame.
About the Therapist
My clients find me warm, insightful, informal and kind. I create a safe but challenging space for you to heal, grow and find meaning. I am LGBTQIA+ and open to exploring all experiences and issues of identity and difference.
I practise in English and French.
I have been married to my husband for 16 years and have navigated the difficulties of establishing intimacy with another person without a rule book. I am also the proud father of three beautiful children. Parenting has been one of my life's most challenging and rewarding experiences.
I work privately and volunteer with charities, particularly the Terrence Higgins Trust. Psychotherapy is my second career. I have an MBA from the HEC School of Management in Paris and held senior management positions in the beauty and fashion industry.
I hold an MA from Regent's University's School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (distinction). This course immersed me in the psychoanalytic and humanistic/integrative traditions before specialising in existential psychotherapy based on philosophy, phenomenology, and ethical discourse.

You may come to therapy with a specific concern in mind. Some issues brought by my clients include:
Relationship and codependency
Shame and low self esteem
Life transitions, decisions, and uncertainty
Childhood trauma and painful past experiences
Work and career stress
Problematic use of alcohol or substances, sex addiction, chemsex
Sex and eroticism
Gender identity
LGBTQIA+ families and parenting
My role is not to impose answers, but to help you explore your life more honestly and clearly. We begin with what you are living: your difficulties, relationships, history, and the way you understand yourself and your world.
Therapy works through the relationship as much as through insight. Feeling heard and understood can make it possible to approach parts of yourself that may have been hidden or difficult to bear. At the same time, therapy also needs to be challenging. Part of the work is to notice patterns and coping mechanisms that may no longer serve you, even if they once helped you survive.
My work is informed by existential philosophy, phenomenology, and psychology. It attends to the deeper questions and tensions that shape our lives: freedom and responsibility, choice and uncertainty, intimacy and separateness, mortality, and the search for meaning. I am less interested in asking, “What is wrong with you?” than in asking, “What are you living through?” and “What makes life worth living for you?”
I do not work from a one-size-fits-all method. Some people need space to reflect and make sense of long-standing patterns. Others need help staying close to painful feelings they usually avoid. Others come with a specific crisis, conflict, or decision and want to understand what is at stake more deeply.
