Carwyn Langdown Psychotherapy
About the Therapist
I have always been drawn to and loved working with people, where my main motivation lies in supporting people with their health and wellbeing. I have worked in the health sector for over 30 years in clinical and managerial positions and have really enjoyed the experiences this has brought me.
I believe my life and work experiences I have gained over the years, has also made me a better therapist and enhanced what I offer clients from a relational perspective.
In addition to my Psychotherapy practice, I currently work as a Director of Transformation for a large NHS hospital organisation, focussed on Organisational change.
I live in South Manchester with my partner and our two amazing adopted children. Outside of work I enjoy travelling, music, and cooking.
As part of my ethical practice, I am in regular clinical supervision and also personal therapy.

As a psychotherapist in advance clinical training, my approach is based on the Transactional Analysis modality, which means I look at how our experiences of growing up, shape the way we think, feel and behave into adulthood including our sense of self and our relationships with others.
I work with a wide range of people but have a particular interest in identity, adoption (being an adoptive parent myself), relationships and the ways we learn to adapt to the systems and families we grow up in. I draw from integrative approaches, weaving together different models in a way that is tailored to you rather than expecting you to fit a formula.
At the heart of my practice are values of curiosity, respect, and collaboration. I don’t see you as “the problem” to be fixed, but as a person doing your best in conditions that may have been — or still are — very difficult. Together, we can gently turn towards what has felt too much to hold alone.
