I’m a trans woman and I trained as a therapeutic counsellor because our community deserves help they can trust. We’ve all experienced having to explain ourselves to non-LGBTQ+ people who just don’t ‘get it’. I believe everyone deserves a therapist who understands them without judgement.

My identity as a Black gay man deeply informs my work as a therapist. I bring not only professional training but also personal insight into the challenges of navigating spaces that may not always affirm your full self. I understand the emotional weight of seeking belonging and the courage it takes to move toward self-acceptance. I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist working online. You may be struggling with a specific issue or pattern of behaviour and know already what you would like to talk about. Alternatively, you may be feeling down and low and need support with processing your feelings and emotions. Counselling may be able to offer a fresh perspective, or support you to make changes needed to get you to a better place. I work with people from all backgrounds, in a range of areas. I  have worked closely with male issues and have experience working with gender diversity and LGBT+ issues.

Sometimes we might feel that things are just getting too much, or we want to look at something specific which is bothering us. Since the corona crisis we needed to adapt to a new “normal”. Feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, worn out, depressed and stressed are just some of the many ways we might react to what is happening around us and within us. Looking for help is not a sign of defeat, not now and not ever.

My name is Laurie May and I’m a non-binary counsellor and intimate partner therapist based in the UK. Hello there, I’m Nat, I’m a queer counsellor and an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer short or long term therapy, and I am currently with clients online only.  I work with and welcome people from all different backgrounds and life experiences (18+). I have a background in working with sexuality and gender.  Many of my LGBTQ+ clients also experience neurodivergence such as ASD or ADHD and I have done additional training and self-education in this area.
