Chiara Apicella
About the Therapist
I am a UKCP-registered Psychotherapist and Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA). My practice is grounded in Relational Transactional Analysis and informed by psychodynamic and CBT approaches, allowing me to adapt therapy to each person's unique needs, experiences, and goals.
I offer a warm, affirming, and collaborative therapeutic space where all aspects of your identity and experience are welcome. I have experience working with LGBTQIA+ and Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diverse (GSRD) clients, people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and different neurotypes. My work is informed by an intersectional perspective, recognising that our wellbeing is shaped not only by personal experiences but also by the social, cultural, and systemic contexts in which we live.
I believe that meaningful change happens within a safe and authentic therapeutic relationship. My aim is to create a space where you can bring whatever feels important, whether that relates to identity, relationships, emotional difficulties, life transitions, or a desire to understand yourself more deeply.

Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and it can be reassuring to know that your therapist has completed recognised professional training and is accountable to a professional body.

I am a UKCP-registered Psychotherapist and adhere to the UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/therapist/Chiara-Apicella-iSEthAAG
Alongside my psychotherapy practice, I am undertaking Clinical Supervision training with TA East, with a particular interest in intersectional and inclusive practice.
As part of my commitment to safe and ethical practice, I engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.
I have experience working with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, life transitions, loss, and experiences of discrimination, marginalisation, or exclusion. I also work with clients navigating cultural differences, migration, belonging, and the impact of living between different communities, cultures, or identities.
My approach is relational and collaborative. I am interested in understanding how past experiences, relationships, and wider social contexts can shape the ways we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others. I aim to support clients in developing greater awareness, self-understanding, and the freedom to make choices that feel more authentic and meaningful.
