Christopher McCarthy MBACP
About the Therapist
I’m a qualified integrative therapist registered with the BACP, working from my Lisburn Road office in Belfast, offering both face-to-face and Zoom sessions. I draw on humanistic, psychodynamic, and CBT modalities, tailoring therapy to your individual needs. I combine empathy with gentle, relevant challenging, using the therapeutic relationship to foster insight, growth, and meaningful change. I love this work and aim to create a non-judgemental, supportive space where you feel seen, heard, and empowered. I work with adults of all ages, including LGBTQ+ clients, and focus on fostering deeper self-understanding, self-compassion, and acceptance as a foundation for lasting change.
In your first session, we’ll take time to explore your concerns and how we might work together, and I also offer a free 15-minute introductory call to answer any questions before you book.

Exploring deeper self-knowledge
Curiosity is central to my practice: by approaching your experiences and responses with openness rather than judgement, we can explore patterns, meaning, and new possibilities together. I also see the therapeutic relationship as a vital part of the work — how you and I relate can shine a light on relational patterns and open new areas for growth. Sessions are collaborative and client-led, blending reflective exploration with agreed goals while remaining responsive to whatever arises week-to-week. Practical strategies are explored where helpful. I am committed to walking alongside my clients, fostering insight, emotional clarity, self-acceptance, meaningful change, and resilience. Sessions are 50 minutes weekly.
