David Cooper
About the Therapist
Hi I'm David. My work is based in pluralistic person-centred practice - an evidence based therapeutic approach that results in significant reductions to psychological distress.
I believe we all possess the capacity to self-heal and that sometimes these resources within us become blocked. In a safe and supportive relationship you can start to become aware of these restrictive barriers and in time remove them, allowing your own resources and strengths to emerge.
I offer therapeutic relationship that is empathic, collaborative, emotion focussed, and compassionate. I regularly employ embodied empathy and psychoeducation to empower clients, supporting them in building a confident relationship with their mind and body. This provides clients with a foundation from which they can take action in their life, bringing with it recognition of their unique ability, and offering them freedom.

I recognise that every person is unique and I will work with you to tailor my therapeutic approach to you personally.
What to expect
The majority of my work is based in talking therapy. An essential part of this is creating a safe environment for you to explore whatever is on your mind without judgement.
You can expect me to listen attentively to what you bring and I will respond with a deep empathy. My experience of being with clients often feels like we are collaboratively working things out together in real time.
You can attend without preparing anything and we can explore your experiences at your own pace.
Experience
