About the Therapist
I enjoy being a counsellor; it’s difficult work but I take it seriously and take immense pleasure from supporting people. I know that life can be difficult and can push us to the very limits of our capabilities, making us feel lost, stuck or helpless and it’s in those moments where everything feels very bleak that my type of counselling – supportive, yet challenging – seems to have benefitted my clients. My clients matter to me and their journey matters to me. I am patient and understanding; I understand that some people take longer than others and some people need a lot of time to build trust in their counsellor. None of these things worry me – my focus will be on you and we will move at your pace.

What to expect
Picking a counsellor can be a daunting experience and knowing what to expect often makes taking that first step and sending the initial enquiry easier. Our first session will last between 50 minutes and an hour. This will be a chance for me to listen to you and understand some of the reasons you have come to counselling and then for you to “size me up” and consider if I am the sort of counsellor that you think you could work with. At the end of this session, you will have some time to consider if we are the right fit.
If so, our sessions will mostly likely be weekly after that (but different patterns can be discussed) and will last between 50 minutes and 1 hour. We would normally agree to work together for 8 sessions initially and then can extend according to your needs. I am comfortable in working in short and long timeframes.
