ELB Counselling Services
About the Therapist
My name is Emma Brand and I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and Registered Member MBACP. As part of my membership with the BACP I adhere to their Ethical Framework to ensure I am working safely and in the best way for my clients. I have a private practice which is based via online/video and telephone counselling. I am passionate about working creatively and have experience working with diverse groups and minority communities. I have experience working with people with sensory impairments and understand the importance of communication, accessibility and individuality. I am qualified in British Sign Language Level 3 and have worked with people with a dual sight and hearing loss. I attend regular Professional Development Training events including Intrusive Thoughts and Depression which I can reflect on and bring into a session if appropriate. Looking for support and thinking about counselling can be daunting; but I hope from my information you can learn more about me and what I can offer to help you. I hope to empower you through listening to achieve balance, which is why I called myself ELB Counselling Services. In my practice I commit to offering a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space where you can feel comfortable to talk openly about how you are feeling. I am aware sometimes it can be hard to talk to someone you know as they may have an opinion or be involved. PeI have trained in the person-centred modality, which explores therapy in a non-directive approach focussing on emotions and feelings that come up in the session. I commit to offering a safe, non-judgemental and honest space with compassion, of which under these core conditions therapeutic change has an opportunity to occur. As someone from the LGBTQIA+ Community, I have an understanding and compassion with themes and emotions that may come up for people, having gone through my own journey and therapy myself, this is something I am passionate about in working with my clients. I am also aware there are themes that may come up not linked to sexuality and gender, however this part of identity is still valid and present.Â

I have experience working with grief/bereavement, anger, anxiety and depression, relationships, coming out, exploring sexuality, identity, family and friendship dynamics and OCD/trauma. Please feel free to contact me further to discuss my experience if you have any further questions. During the first session, we can discuss together what you would like to explore in counselling; if you have had counselling before, and I can share how I work and if this is something you feel would be helpful for you. In the first session I cover my client agreement which explains more about confidentiality and the model of counselling I work to.
