Emma Hinkson Therapy
About the Therapist
I am a psychotherapist with a particular interest in working with issues around sex, sexuality, intimacy and identity, with a strong emphasis on embodied experience. My work is grounded in an understanding of how emotional, relational and bodily experiences are intertwined, and how reconnecting with the body can support greater self-understanding, agency and choice.
I offer a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore sexuality in ways that feel affirming and inclusive. My approach is collaborative rather than prescriptive, supporting clients to reconnect with themselves in ways that feel authentic and aligned with their values.
Alongside my psychotherapy training, I bring over a decade of experience working within healthcare, including supporting people living with chronic and life-limiting conditions and those receiving palliative care. This background informs a compassionate, whole-person approach that is attentive to vulnerability, resilience and the realities of embodied life.
I also welcome spiritual exploration into the work where it feels meaningful to the client, whether through reflection, intuition, ritual or a sense of something greater. As a woman of mixed heritage, I bring lived awareness of navigating complex identities and belonging, and I hold curiosity, openness and care as central to the therapeutic relationship.
I am also a parent, and while this does not define my work, it has shaped my understanding of care, responsibility, loss and transformation. I welcome all experiences of parenting, including its joys, struggles, griefs and absences into the therapeutic space.

My approach supports exploration of themes such as meaning, identity, freedom and connection, particularly as these relate to sexual, relational and embodied experience. I work in an existential and relational way, attending closely to how your experiences are lived and felt, rather than rushing to interpretation or solutions.
Alongside talking therapy, I may use gentle, guided tools to bring an embodied focus to the work where this feels helpful. This can include inviting awareness of bodily sensations, emotional responses and patterns of connection, supporting greater presence, self-understanding and choice.
I welcome spirituality into the work in whatever way feels meaningful to you, whether through personal reflection, intuition, ritual, or a sense of something greater. Therapy with me is a space where all parts of you are invited in and met with care.
I work in a sex-positive, inclusive and non-judgemental way, welcoming people exploring sexuality, desire, intimacy and identity.
