Gavin Reid
About the Therapist
I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor with a person-centred approach at the core of my practice. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and affirming space for individuals, with a special focus on LGBTQ+ clients.
With extensive experience working within LGBTQ+ communities, I understand the unique challenges that can arise, including stigma, shame, addiction, and the complexities of intimacy and connection. My approach integrates various therapeutic modalities, including, CBT, GSRD, TA and mindfulness techniques, to tailor support to each individual's needs. However, my foundation remains person-centred—ensuring that therapy is led by you, at your pace, in a space where you feel heard, valued, and empowered.

I hold a Foundation Degree in Counselling from Sheffield Hallam University, which I completed with Distinction.
While this training provided a solid foundation in counselling practice, I found it did not adequately prepare me to work effectively with LGBTQ+ clients. I recognise the importance of culturally competent and inclusive practice, so I chose to pursue further specialist training. In June 2024, I enrolled in a one-year Diploma in Gender, Sex and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Therapy with Pink Therapy.
This advanced training has been incredibly valuable, significantly deepening my understanding of the diverse experiences and needs within LGBTQ+ communities. It has enhanced my ability to offer informed, affirming, and ethically sound support to clients navigating issues related to gender, sexuality, and relationship diversity. Chemsex
Chemsex can bring complex emotional, psychological, and relational challenges, including shame, dependency, intimacy difficulties, and identity concerns. Drawing from my own lived experience, I offer a compassionate and informed space to help you make sense of your experiences, explore patterns of behaviour, and regain a sense of control and self-acceptance.
LGBTQ+
LGBTQ+ individuals often navigate challenges such as identity exploration, coming out, relationships, discrimination, self-acceptance, and mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, or trauma. As a gay man growing up in the 1980’s with Section 28 and the AIDS Epidemic as my backdrop, I too have experienced all of these challenges. I provide a compassionate and informed space where you can explore these experiences freely, without fear of stigma or misunderstanding.
Work/Life Balance
Drawing from my own corporate experience, I work in supporting professionals seeking to achieve a healthier work-life balance. In today’s fast-paced world, the demands of work can often overshadow personal well-being, leading to stress, burnout, and a sense of disconnection from what truly matters. My role is to provide a confidential, supportive space where you can explore these challenges and develop practical strategies for a more balanced and fulfilling life.
