About the Therapist
In therapy sessions (outdoors or online) I will support you to unravel some of your troubling thoughts and emotions through shared movement expression. The use of posture, gesture, improvised movements, words and sounds can help you shape your experience of relationships, life events and the world around you. My therapy practice values and supports development of physical expression, and the psychotherapeutic benefits of the moving body. Which carries and expresses your individual life and body story. Body stories contain the delights, anxieties, thrills, depressions, traumas, fears, joys, and revelations of lived experience. All connections to social, familial, cultural, political, environmental, ecological, economic, and technological experience is held within your body. So, when words are not enough the body can speak for you.

Some of the following information may be confusing or too wordy. So do ask questions if you need something explained with different words. I am an integrative DMP registered with the Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy UK and have 18yrs experience in a range of settings. I am a private practitioner and clinical supervisor. I also have 16 years’ experience as a lecturer in DMP. I have worked with adults with learning disabilities, elders with dementia, gay, queer, lesbian, and trans people. This has been in adult community services, residential care, and for those who self-refer for outdoor or online individual sessions. My integrative practice is informed by theories related to social relationships, family systems, political systems, individual worldviews, gender and sexual identity or orientation. This includes humanistic, existential, person-centred, feminist, queer theory and eco-somatic perspectives. This integrative space provides an opportunity to maintain individual identity, while exploring possibilities for the creating positive relationships. From moment to moment our life-worlds are shaped by choices we make and express in verbal and non-verbal communication; these interactions are shaped by social and cultural perceptions of gender definitions that exacerbate or strengthen identity survival. My intent is to empower those I meet to explore choices available and how these choices shape their space in the world, while acknowledging their versatility of expression and identity.
