Georgina Gardner Stockley
About the Therapist
I offer support to individuals and couples from any demographic. I also work with under 18s. I work affirmatively, I know that I am not the expert on another person's life; my interest is in holding space for my clients to work out who they are and how they wish to be in the world. I have particular experience with bereavement or loss and the resulting complexities.I have also conducted original research into the affects of sexual abuse on subsequent sexual experience.
I practice as a person-centred counsellor. Our sessions can take the form of straightforward talking or we can use non-verbal mediums, such as drawing or painting, to explore your experience. I work in a trauma informed way and have experience working with traumatic bereavement.
I am based in South Birmingham where I provide face to face sessions from The Bournville Health Hub and from The York Road Therapy Rooms in Kings Heath. I also provide counselling online.
My sessions are 50 minutes long.

I practice as a Person-Centred counsellor because as a client this is the only modality I am comfortable with. I have training in Person Centred Expressive Arts Therapy and enjoy offering alternative methods of expression such as painting, drawing and movement alongside talking. I am experienced in the provision and use of various somatic techniques to help down-regulate the nervous system.
I have worked with clients struggling with a diverse range of issues such as psychosis, addiction, marital breakdown, sexuality, neurodivergence, depression, anxiety and sexual abuse. I welcome whatever a client needs to bring to a session and understand that a person's psyche is not categorisable, nor properly represented by a collection of labels.
Since qualification I have worked on an Employee Assistance Programme providing in the moment support on a counselling helpline. Currently I work two days a week as a counsellor at a Hospice.
