About the Therapist
My primary intention is to welcome others, through an effort to understand across difference. I am certain my experiences will not always match yours, but I believe it is acceptance of the particularities of selfhood that makes every conversation possible.
In psychotherapy, human subjectivity is the principle decider of who we are. But when something in ourselves generates misery, we may look for openings toward relief. When something integral to ourselves is conflicted or in jeopardy, we my look for openings toward resolve.
People come to me because they are suffering in some way. This can including named issues like anxiety or depression; experiences such as bereavement, abuse or other relationship difficulties - or it can also be because questions about your place in the world have become too pressing to ignore.
Whatever you're struggling with personally, counselling & psychotherapy provide you with a steady, reliable place to be inquisitive about what's going on. It's a private conversation, away from the assumptions and expectations of daily life. I have a particular interest in helping if you feel your experience has not met with recognition, or where your concerns feel repetitive or long lasting but the reasons for this may be confusing or unclear.Â
Counselling and Psychotherapy can be a means toward knowing yourself in new and fuller ways. An offshoot of this -Â for many people - is finding more options in life, having more satisfying relationships, or a capacity to notice, feel and live with more kinds of emotions.
If you would like to arrange an initial appointment to talk about what draws you to therapy, please leave me a message.
