Gustav Béen ∙ Counselling for Individuals and Couples
About the Therapist
I work slowly. Not because the work is simple, but because what matters most in a session tends to surface in the pauses – in what emerges when something isn't immediately moved past.
I'm comfortable not knowing what something means yet. I'm not trying to make sense of your experience before you have. What orients me is whatever is actually present in you while we're talking – not the history behind it, not the explanation of it, but what's moving right now.
The people I work with are mostly thoughtful, often analytical. They've spent real time on themselves – therapy, reflection, sometimes both – and find that what they understand best hasn't moved.
Often there’s something that’s been managed for a long time. Competent externally, but internally held together through effort. Sometimes a relationship repeating in shape if not in form. Sometimes a way of holding things together that's started to cost more than it gives.
Many of the people I work with are queer or live outside more conventional relational scripts, and want a space where less energy goes toward explaining their experience, and more toward the work itself.
I work with both individuals and couples.
If you're considering this work, the first step is a 20-minute call. No cost, no commitment – just to see whether the fit is right.

I maintain regular supervision and continued training.
I work in English and Swedish. Based in southern Spain, working online with clients internationally.
This is a depth-oriented counselling practice — non-clinical, focused on relational patterns, identity, and inner life.
My work draws primarily on Internal Family Systems (IFS) and the Gottman Method. IFS works with distinct parts of inner experience – approaching what's there with curiosity rather than trying to manage or eliminate it. The Gottman Method brings structure to couples work – helping track communication patterns, escalation, repair, and emotional disconnection as they happen.
