Hester P Wylde - Embodied Courage (they/them)
About the Therapist
I am a trained energy worker (studied in Chinese Medicine - graduated with a Masters in Acupuncture in 2000 in Seattle). And have worked with energy, somatic healers for many years.
I am also trained in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy which means I can draw a multitude of approaches in my work with clients.
My background informs my somatic, energetic work in my counselling practice, as well as my over 25 years as a Buddhist practitioner (ordained in 2010).
I use this all to help my clients access the courage/heartful-ness within them to face themselves and their lives as fully as possible from the ground of their embodiment. And this is why I call my practice Embodied Courage.

I am a registered member of BACP - 412772 (registration number), having trained in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My background in energy work came from training in Chinese Medicine in the late 90's. I have also trained in working therapeutically with the energy centres/chakras.

I work with people around identity, loss, transitions in an embodied and creative way. My work is about working alongside my clients to help them touch into their own inner resources, in their bodies, hearts, and minds -- learning, slowly sometimes, to accept that which has felt unacceptable, or broken within them.
We do this through talking, exploring the body directly, through imagery and visualisation, as well as creatively through movement and art.
I am interested in what is happening right now, in this moment, here — what are you noticing? And what roles you take, avoid, or have banished in your life.
I often ask my clients to speak about what they are noticing in their body in our sessions, and to build comfort with being with how they are — however they are.
I work with helping people attune to themselves, to take responsibility for their lives so that they can make the most informed, embodied, courageous, and loving choices in their lives.
In working with myself and others over the years, I have seen how we have learned to disconnect from our bodies and ourselves for various reasons, including, cultural messages, life experiences, traumas, fear of who we really are and how that might be met in our relationships.
Much of the work then is finding ways back to our deeper, more authentic selves, so that we can meet life more fully.
And in finding our way back many of us need a guide, or companion, on the way, and I would be honoured to be yours.
