About the Therapist
I have experience helping people with a wide range of issues. Whether you’re grappling with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, loss, life transitions, or feeling stuck, I’m here to help you. You might be completely new to therapy, or you might have previous experience; rest assured that I will provide support and guidance tailored to your unique needs and situation. As a fully qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I am committed to creating a compassionate and safe environment where you can delve into your unconscious mind and the profound impact it has on your self, your relationships, and your overall sense of being.
A bit about my approach
My approach is centred around understanding the deep-rooted patterns and emotional responses that you may be unaware of, yet they may significantly impact your daily life. Together, we will work to uncover these unconscious processes, offering you the chance to gain insight and develop healthier ways of engaging with yourself and those around you. By nurturing a supportive therapeutic relationship, you will be encouraged to express yourself freely and work through those areas of your life where you feel most challenged. This process of self-discovery and healing can pave the way for meaningful change and a more fulfilling life.
Taking the first step
Taking that initial step towards seeking help is brave and often the most challenging part. This journey is an opportunity to discover hope, make sense of challenging experiences, and transform your understanding of yourself, others, and the world.
I bring an open mind
My experience brings an open mind, not a “One-Size-Fits-All” approach. Therapy is not just about understanding, it is also about creating a space where you can safely challenge aspects of yourself, with the aim of gaining a deeper knowledge about what makes you who you are. In our sessions, we will explore your interactions and experiences with others, as well as moments from how you experience yourself in therapy. We will examine various aspects of your identity to gain insight into your personality, resolve internal conflicts, and foster a healing process and development without judgment. I have a wealth of experience working with people of LGBTQ+ and racially diverse identities and am here to help you explore how these intersectional parts of yourself might have influenced your journey in life.
What to Expect in Therapy
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long and are conducted weekly. We will begin with an initial consultation where we will discuss your needs, goals, and any concerns you may have. Throughout our therapeutic journey, we will review progress and adapt our approach to ensure it remains effective and supportive. Confidentiality and trust are fundamental principles in our work together.
Before embarking on therapy, it’s essential to engage in an initial consultation period, which typically involves one meeting, although in some cases we might agree that further meetings might be beneficial before agreeing to work together. My approach always begins with a comprehensive evaluation to identify your challenges, determine the most effective way to support you and assess if I am the right therapist for you. This assessment will provide you with a clear understanding of my methods, what you can expect from therapy, and the steps you need to take to ensure success. If I am not the ideal match, we will discuss other options and potential referrals to find the right support for you.
