Jay is a highly experienced and specialised psychotherapist, having worked substantially across a range of psychotherapeutic services in the prisons, NHS, charity sector, and private mental health, delivering transformative psychotherapy, as well as mentoring and training therapists in training.
Whilst they are experienced in working with a broad range of mental health issues and difficult life experience, she is a specialist in the healing and recovery of trauma (including treatment of PTSD and Complex PTSD), complex trauma, grief, complex grief, the impact of attachment and relational trauma, childhood unmet needs, toxic family dynamics, and alongside this, effective intervention for the experience of “Hearing Voices” and a range of dissociative experiences through the model of Structural Dissociation.
Compassionate, collaborative, intuitive (at times energetically passionate; at times playful!) in inviting compassion and curiosity for the range of often painful experience and wounded aspects of ourselves as human that desperately needed and wanted healing, but also naturally not easy (to say the least!) to bring attention to.
A parallel part of the therapeutic process they offer, is also in facilitating with you, (re)connection with your inner wisdom - nurturing, rebuilding resourceful parts of yourself, which could have naturally been impacted by trauma and/or losses.
They draw upon a range of contemporary, up-to-date, attachment sensitive, neurobiologically-informed, practical psychotherapeutic approaches, alongside some of the principle and philosophy of existential, gestalt, and depth psychology, tailoring to your unique emotional and relational terrain as a person, and the context of your therapeutic needs. Models she draws upon includes: AIP: Adaptive Information Process model (EMDR), in layman terms, your innate natural inner healing process, Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family System (IFS), Structural Dissociation Model and compassionate, person-centred interpretation of psychodynamics.
