About the Therapist
I have many years experience of working with the LGBTQ+ community, originally in 2004 running a social & support youth group at PACE, and later returning in therapeutic roles.

MSc Psychodynamic Counselling / Children & Adolescents | Birkbeck University of London | 2006 |
I trained as a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist, qualifying in 2006.
I have worked in a wide variety of settings, including higher education, voluntary agencies, PACE (LGBTQ charity), NHS child and family clinic, and in private practice.
My therapeutic work has been with adults, young people and children.
I have also delivered therapeutic groups and workshops specifically to LGBTQ people, including those impacted by domestic abuse, and also young people.
I have offered clinical supervision to counsellors in various settings.
I have also managed counselling services and taken up clinical lead roles in universities.
My core approach is psychodynamic - this means, at least to some extent, considering the impact of early years and experience on our present sense of ourselves in the world, and our relationships with others.
Understanding the origin of feelings and emotions that feel painful or confusing can help to make important changes in our lives.
Although this is the core of my approach, there is flexibility and I will always try to work with what you need from our sessions.

I keep a very limited number of reduced fee options for those who may otherwise be unable to afford it.
I can offer a free, 15 minute introductory consultation on the telephone/online so that we can think together about what you are looking for, how we might work together, and whether you would like to meet for a first session. You can ask questions during this consultation, or in advance of it via email if that is more helpful.
