John J Ahearne
About the Therapist
through psychodynamic lens with John
I am an accredited practising counsellor and therapist. I am committed to providing counselling and talking therapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I work with individuals and couples using an open-ended ongoing approach or for an agreed time period (usually 12 weeks with a review in week 10 to see if you want to go on longer). The aim is to enable you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
Together we will recognise and explore patterns in yourself and others, what your triggers are and where those patterns may have originated. I do not believe in immediate fixes, rather that most issues are a relational problem. It is about the relationship we have with a problem that causes us pain; it’s about the feelings you have and how you react to a topic or person that causes upset in your personal and/or professional life.
At the centre of my approach is the cultivating of a secure, safe, and confidential therapeutic environment and relationship. This is key to building a strong therapeutic trust with clients and it must always be a harmless and safe space between therapist and client.
I do not see myself as an expert; rather I see myself as a skilled helper in your journey.
