Karen Savage
About the Therapist
Hi, I'm Karen, an LGBTQIA+ affirming relationship therapist working with adults and couples online and in person.
Relationships can be one of our greatest sources of connection, but they can also leave us feeling hurt, confused or alone. Whether you're struggling with communication, feeling disconnected from your partner, recovering from relationship trauma, exploring your identity, coming out later in life, or navigating life as a neurodivergent person, therapy can offer the space to reflect, heal and grow.
Having come out later in life and being neurodivergent myself, I understand that identity isn't always straightforward. My lived experience allows me to bring empathy and understanding, while always recognising that your story is unique.
I work collaboratively, tailoring therapy to your individual needs and goals. As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, person-centred principles, CBT-informed techniques, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), NLP and evidence-based relationship therapy. Rather than following one model, I adapt my approach to what will be most helpful for you or your relationship.
My aim is to provide a safe, affirming and non-judgemental space where you feel heard, understood and supported to make meaningful, lasting change.
If you'd like to explore whether we're a good fit, I'd be delighted to hear from you.

My approach is warm, collaborative and relational, with the belief that therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen, heard and understood. I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to meet the unique needs of each person and relationship rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model.
In my relationship work, I support couples who may be experiencing communication difficulties, emotional distance, recurring conflict, trust issues or changes within their relationship. I explore the patterns that develop between partners, including attachment, past experiences, individual needs and the ways we respond when we feel hurt, misunderstood or disconnected.
Alongside couples work, I support individuals exploring identity, coming out later in life, neurodivergence, trauma, self-worth, boundaries and the impact of past relationships on the present. I have a particular interest in how our early experiences can shape the way we relate to ourselves and others.
My work is informed by psychodynamic, person-centred, trauma-informed and relationship-focused approaches, alongside techniques such as EFT and NLP where appropriate. I also incorporate elements from evidence-based couples approaches, including Gottman-informed principles, to support communication, emotional connection and relationship growth.
I aim to create a compassionate, affirming and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace and move towards relationships that feel more authentic, connected and fulfilling.
