MSc Psychology, University of Sunderland. BA (Hons) Counselling, University of Sunderland. AIM Qualifications Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Practice. Chrysalis Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice. Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS). My doctoral research in psychology at Durham University focuses on gender, sexuality and relationship diversity (GSRD) in therapy, and I have completed a two day certificated GSRD training at the University of Sunderland.
I work with adults on anxiety, low mood and depression, stress, trauma, bereavement, relationship and communication difficulties, identity and confidence. I do not work from a single model: I draw together person centred, CBT informed, solution focused and mindfulness based approaches and shape them around the person in front of me. Sessions are 45 minutes (a full hour for couples), face to face in South Shields or online by secure video or telephone. Alongside counselling I offer hypnotherapy and clinical supervision for counsellors. In practice since 2019.
