About the Therapist
To my work I bring my lived experience of queerness, chronic illness and neurodivergence, including my journey towards acceptance of these aspects of my identity. These communities are incredibly close to my heart, and I find myself naturally gravitating towards working with difference and the otherness we face in society. I work with clients from many backgrounds, but my client base has a queer majority. Naturally, people seek out therapists who might be able to understand the difficulties they face as part of the community—it's one less hurdle to overcome initially. I cover this in an interview with the Bristol Post I gave recently: 'Bristol psychotherapist's mission to support queer community'. I was also interviewed on the importance of diversity in therapy training for an article in UKCP's magazine (p.30-34): New Psychotherapist Summer 2023. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe enough to share the parts of yourself and your life that you find difficult, without judgement. This doesn't mean there won't be challenges to the way you see yourself and the world, but this comes from genuine, compassionate enquiry. It's important for me that the experience is a human one, not cold or clinical. The value I place on this grounding in human experience and connection is why I chose to train in Humanistic and Integrative psychotherapy. For more information, or to discuss an initial session to see if we're a good fit, feel free to contact me.
