Maddy-Rose Robinson | Trainee Psychotherapist | Paddington
About the Therapist
My name is Maddy-Rose, and I'm a queer, trauma-informed trainee psychotherapist. I have particular experience working with LGBTQ+ clients and people exploring questions of identity, belonging and difference, and I practise in a way that is affirming and attentive to power and context.
I work relationally, which means I pay attention not only to what you bring, but also to how we experience one another in the room. Often, the ways we relate here can echo patterns from elsewhere in life – in relationships, work, or how we treat ourselves. Therapy offers a chance to notice these patterns with curiosity, rather than judgement, and to experiment with something different.
I’m interested in how past experiences live on in the present, sometimes quietly shaping how safe, connected, or at ease we feel. My aim is to offer a space that feels grounded, respectful and non-pathologising, where all parts of you are welcome – including the parts that feel uncertain, conflicted, or stuck.

Much of my work involves gently moving beyond thoughts and familiar stories, and towards what is being felt and lived in the body and in relationship. This creates space for insight that isn’t only intellectual, but experienced – often opening up new ways of relating to yourself and others.
My approach draws on Gestalt, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and body-aware psychotherapy, supporting an attentive, present-focused way of working. This can include noticing patterns as they show up in relationships, listening to different parts of experience, and staying close to what’s happening emotionally and physically in the moment.
This work is underpinned by person-centred principles, which provide the holding and steadiness that allow depth and complexity to unfold safely. Within that, we can gently explore how past experiences and relational patterns continue to shape life in the present, particularly in how you relate to others and to yourself. I’m guided by you in deciding what kind of intervention feels most supportive at any given time, rather than working to a fixed model or agenda.
I work with people experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma and complex trauma, questions of identity and belonging, and relationship or attachment difficulties. I have particular experience working with LGBTQ+ clients, including around navigating difference, minority stress, and the ways identity can intersect with emotional and relational life. My practice is affirming, reflective and attentive to power, context and lived experience.
