About the Therapist
I am an integrative therapist, drawing on a range of modalities to help exploring your issues and in turn facilitate personal understanding and growth. Â
I hold a MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London. I am also an accredited registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework. Apart from working in private practice, I am also a counsellor at Mind in Westminster, working for the NHS Talking Therapies service (formerly known as IAPT).
In my previous careers I have worked as an actor, as well as a sign language communicator in the education sector.
Sessions can also be held in German.

I believe that counselling and psychotherapy can help us to find clarity by talking through the issues which trouble us and thereby gaining a deeper understanding of ourselves, our feelings and needs. The term counselling is usually used when we refer to short to medium term therapy looking at specific issues, while the term psychotherapy is usually used for longer term to open-ended exploration of the self, although these terms can overlap.
I trained in an integrative approach, which uses the relationship between client and counsellor as the base for the journey together. Depending on the client I draw from a variety of approaches, such as person-centred, mindfulness, cognitive and solution-focused theories, as I don’t believe that one approach fits all clients or all issues.
During our sessions I aim to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space for us to explore your issues. This could be anything from low self-worth, anxiety, stress, bereavement and anger to relationship difficulties, work problems and sexual identity, although this list is not exhaustive.
Our first meeting is a chance for you to tell me more about what brings you to counselling and what you expect to get from it. It also gives me the opportunity to find out a little bit more about you and if we think we can work together. Sessions are client-led and unstructured, which means that you decide what you want to bring to the session. I do not have an agenda and we will explore whatever you wish, bearing in mind your overall goals. Periodically we will check in how the sessions are going for you, if there are things that don’t work for you or others you would like more of. The work is collaborative with you being an active part of the process. If we decide after the initial meeting to continue, we can set a number of sessions or work with an open end. Previously I worked at King’s College NHS Health Centre. Other placements included ELOP, which is a LGBT charity in Walthamstow and Cruse Bereavement Support, a nationwide charity helping people who have suffered from loss.

Sessions and Fees
Sessions usually last 50 minutes and take place weekly on the same day and time (unless agreed otherwise). The fee for the session is £70, although there is a concessionary rate of £45 available for people on low income, students or the unwaged. Please, ask if you feel that this would apply to you.
If you arrive late for the session you will have the remainder of the allocated slot.
Cancellations of more than 48 hours notice will be charged at £30. Missed or cancelled sessions of less than 48 hours notice will be charged at the usual rate of £65. Continued cancelled or missed sessions are open to review.
If a session has to be cancelled from my part I will aim to give you as much notice as possible and try to offer you an alternative time. If you wish to end counselling you may do so at any time, but I would like to ask you for 1 week’s notice after the decision for us to have a proper ending, which is an important part of the counselling process.
Confidentiality and Records The content of our sessions is confidential although there are a few exceptions when confidentiality might be breached. These are:
- If I think that you are at risk of harming yourself or others
- If I am required to do so by a UK court of law
- If maintaining confidentiality would break the law, eg. drug trafficking, terrorism, money laundering, etc.
I also have regular supervision which helps me to maintain a good working practice and I also take brief notes of our sessions to help me monitoring my work. I do not tape sessions and do not allow clients to tape sessions.
