Matthew Moore
About the Therapist
I am a warm and approachable LGBTQ+ psychotherapist, offering affordable sessions in Hackney, East London and online.
I know how nerve-racking it can be to seek help. But I've also experienced relief that comes from finally feeling listened to and understood. "Healing through meeting" is my mantra.
Whatever you're going through, I'm committed to meeting you with acceptance, openness, creativity and dignity. Together we can explore what it is like to be you, and discover lasting ways of living better.
I work with a diverse range of clients but my lived experience has given me particular insight into LGBTQ+ issues, and the specific challenges faced by gay, bi and trans men. Isolation, relationship problems, low self-worth, phone addiction, porn/sex obsession and AI anxiety are frequent themes.Â
I'm not a big one for psychological jargon, or explaining to clients why they are the way they are. I believe you are the expert on your own experience - my role is to help you clarify your feelings and take a stand on how to respond. Therapy can help people take responsibility for their own existence and live their lives with courage, resilience and wholeheartedness.
I have extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ clients through Elop, the UK's largest queer counselling service, as well as with students and young people at Imperial College's Student Counselling and Mental Health Service.Â
So if you're struggling with issues around your sexuality and gender, encountering problems in your relationships, or feeling isolated within the LGBTQ+ community, please reach out.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their ethical framework.Â

I like to see myself as a respectful companion on the client's journey, providing a relationship you can use as you see fit.
Together we can explore your feelings, clarify what it is that you are experiencing, and help you take a stand on how to respond. My focus is on being alongside the client in an exploration of their unique world - "healing through meeting".

I trained on the MA programme in Psychotherapy and Counselling (Existential Pathway) at Regent's University in London. Before retraining as a therapist I worked for 15+ years as a journalist, holding senior roles at several national newspapers. This grounding in curiosity, clarity and directness continues to shape my therapy work.
